Certificates such as IATF 16949 and AEC-Q200 are only meaningful if the processes behind them are real. Ask for the factory address, audit history, production equipment list and in-house testing capability. A supplier that measures its own cores — inductance, AL, core loss, dimensions — is a different proposition from one that only resells.
Ferrite performance depends on the material grade: MnZn for 100 kHz–1 MHz power, NiZn for EMI and RF. Ask the manufacturer for the grade name, permeability, loss curves at your frequency and the saturation flux density. If they cannot provide loss data at your operating point, treat the datasheet numbers as marketing.
Inspect the quality plan: incoming material control, in-process parameters (pressing, sintering profile), final testing (dimensions, AL/inductance, breakage) and traceability. For automotive and server applications, confirm AEC-Q200-style qualification coverage and failure analysis support.
