Ferrite Cores for SMPS, LLC and High-Frequency Transformers

Transformer and choke cores for switched-mode supplies. Geometry, material grade and gap are chosen together — a topology change moves all three.

Frequency, flux swing and winding window

Topology first: flyback, forward, LLC and phase-shifted bridge each load the core differently, and the flux swing sets the loss.
Loss and temperature: the grade is selected at the real flux density and frequency, then checked at the hot-spot temperature.
Window and creepage: the bobbin and geometry have to satisfy the insulation requirement, not only the electrical one.

EE / EI

The general-purpose transformer pair for SMPS and forward converters; wide window, easy winding.

ETD / EER

Round centre leg for higher power and better winding utilisation.

PQ / RM

PQ balances winding window against a compact footprint; RM offers better flux confinement potential. Actual leakage inductance depends on the winding, insulation and assembly structure.
